Grooming before a photo shoot or filming day
By Con, founder of Music Wide Selfie · Updated 22 October 2026
Short answerShave or trim the night before so any redness settles, tidy brows and neckline, moisturise, and check the back and sides in good light. On the day, blot shine and check your hair from the camera’s angle.
The day before
- Haircut a few days before, not the same day.
- Shave or trim the evening before.
- Tidy neckline and stray hairs.
On the day
- Moisturise, but blot shine before filming.
- Check from the camera’s angle with a test shot.
- Lint roll dark clothes.
Hard-to-see spots
A test photo of the back and sides catches what the mirror misses.
Questions
Should I use makeup?
A little powder to reduce shine helps under bright lights, for anyone.
